
This is what I wound up removing:Ĭommunicator REG_SZ "C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Microsoft Lync\\communicator.exe\" /fromrunkeyĪs several suggestions here have worked for some and not others I can only offer this as another alternative to try. So, what I found that did work was taking the key location from msconfig, and manually deleting that from the registry. Access the General tab on the left-hand side, and then, on the right, click or tap on the switch next to 'Automatically start Skype' to disable it.


Refer to it as our self inflicted virus - because until today, I could not stop it from running every time someone logged in regardless of the account being local only or their domain account. Lync is our global communication tool however, on PC that only function for being connected to lab equipment, there is no point in Lync running. I found this thread while looking for the answer myself.
